Required Building Permits Guide

Before you start any new construction project or changes to your building, determine if you first need a permit from the City.

Provided below is a list of common exterior and interior projects that require a city permit, as well as a list of those that don’t. But please note, just because a project doesn't need a permit doesn't mean you can ignore Golden's building codes and laws, including where you can build on your property.

Keep in mind, this is just a general guide. Not every project or condition is listed here. If you are unsure what permits you need for your specific project, please reach out to the City of Golden Building Division.
